Further Infomation
What will a visit include?
Face to face time with a Firefighter (most likely a HAZMAT specialist) who will be able answer student’s questions and explain various aspects of their job.* o Subject to availability a local Fire Brigade will visit (with a HAZMAT pumper if available) to show students the most modern tools used by Firefighters today.**
Informative displays in the Museum that highlight the role chemistry plays in fire production, prevention and aftermath. (A knowledgeable guide will be available to discuss these aspects with the class in the Museum space).
Students will get to watch a Firefighter demonstrate what can happen if something is left on the stove with a Kitchen Simulation. This is a spectacular display of a fireball; students will want to have their phones ready for a photo or video! Free time in the Museum to explore the other galleries.
