Ecosystem Explorers Excursion
Spend the day in your local forest and explore the relationships between living and non-living components of a forest ecosystem and how these are affected by the local environment. examine the role of trees in a forest system as they grow and change. investigate the life cycle of a tree and understand the factors that contribute to its growth and survival. build a picture of the different ways that people interact with the forest and explore the complexities of the use and sustainable management of natural resources.
Fire and Forests Excursion
Students learn skills in orienteering, mapping and data collection as they investigate different forest types. explore field sites to understand how topography, weather patterns, fire behaviour, fuels and uses of forest environments impact their management.
